Best places to stay 2026

The Francis Hotel is proud to be named in The Sunday Times Best Places to Stay 2026

09/03/26
We are incredibly proud to share that the Francis Hotel has been included in The Sunday Times Best Places to Stay 2026 list. It is a wonderful recognition for our team and for the journey we have been on over the past few years.

Following a £15 million refurbishment, the hotel has been thoughtfully reimagined throughout, creating rich, warm and inviting spaces designed for modern travellers while honouring the building’s Georgian heritage. From beautifully considered guestrooms to lively social spaces, every corner of the hotel has been refreshed with comfort and character in mind.

At the heart of the hotel sits Emberwood, our British brasserie where the theatre of the hearth takes centre stage. Serving seasonal dishes crafted from locally sourced produce, it has quickly become as popular with Bath locals as it is with our guests. The restaurant’s relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere reflects exactly what we hoped to create, a place where people gather, linger and return to.

Our bar has also become a thriving social hub where guests and locals mingle effortlessly. Just beyond it, the lounge and snug offer the perfect retreat. Guests can sink into a comfortable chair with a drink after a day exploring Bath or simply relax when their guestroom feels a little too quiet.

The final piece of our refurbishment has been the addition of our serene three treatment room spa. Designed as a calming sanctuary, it offers treatments using GAIA and QMS products, alongside a beautiful thermal suite. It is the perfect place to ease weary bodies after wandering Bath’s cobbled streets.

While we are delighted with the transformation of the hotel, what makes us most proud is our team.

From the beginning, we set ourselves a clear goal to make every guest experience feel personal, special and memorable. Our team have embraced that challenge wholeheartedly. They love sharing their favourite hidden corners of the city, recommending where to dine when Emberwood is fully booked and adding thoughtful little touches throughout each stay.

It is these moments of genuine hospitality that truly bring Francis Hotel to life.

Being recognised by The Sunday Times is a fantastic milestone for us all and we are incredibly proud of what has been achieved together. We look forward to welcoming guests from near and far to experience it for themselves.
