From the Hearth

Simple cooking over natural flame honours the freshness and quality of local seasonal produce.

Experience Emberwood

Emberwood is our British brasserie in the heart of Bath, where seasonal ingredients are cooked over open flame.

Set on the corner of Queen Square within the Francis Hotel, it’s Bath’s neighbourhood brasserie, a place to gather, feast and enjoy the best of Somerset on your plate. From field to fire, every dish tells the story of the land around us. Think ex-dairy côte de boeuf or line-caught fish of the day from Wings of St Mawes, always served with seasonal salads and vegetables.

Join us for a leisurely lunch, a relaxed supper, or let the evening stretch out with drinks. Your table is waiting.

Our history

Where silver sparks Emberwood’s warmth

Part of Emberwood finds its roots here at No. 5 where history shapes our present. In the late 19th century John Dafter Harris, a skilled silversmith and jeweller, lived here, his craftsmanship inspiring the silver touches in our service today. Later the property became home to Florence Meredith David, an antiques dealer whose appreciation for the past mirrors our own.

In the 1920s, No. 5 was also home to the Service Match Industry (Eastern) Limited, a match manufacturing company whose legacy inspired Emberwood’s iconic matchstick emblem and the welcoming warmth of our open hearth.

Dine with us in Emberwood and feel the spark of history and craftsmanship that continues to light your stay.
